ETHAN Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as the “Company”) strives to maintain a safe and secure workplace and sets forth in this policy its initiatives to respect the human rights and individuality of every person.
1. Commitment to Human Rights
At ETHAN Co., Ltd., we contribute to the development of a sustainable society by respecting human rights in every aspect of our corporate activities. We set forth this approach in our Human Rights Policy and commit to complying with it.
2. References and Scope
In accordance with international human rights standards (*) and our codes of conduct, including our work rules, we seek to understand and respect the cultures and customs of the countries and regions in which we operate. We strive not to be involved in discrimination or human rights violations and ask our suppliers, business partners, and others to respect human rights and refrain from violations in accordance with these principles.
3. Respect for Diversity and Prohibition of Harassment
We respect every person as an individual and do not tolerate discrimination or disadvantageous treatment based on political beliefs, ideology, religion, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, physical characteristics, illness, age, nationality, race, ethnicity, or other attributes. We provide equal opportunities in recruitment, evaluation, development, placement, salary increases and promotions, appointments to managerial positions, and other areas, and promote a workplace in which diverse people can thrive. We also do not tolerate any form of discrimination or harassment and continuously work to prevent such conduct, including through regular employee training.
4. Prevention of Forced Labor and Child Labor
From the standpoint of protecting fundamental human rights, we prohibit all forced labor and child labor and conduct our business activities in compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
5. Management of Working Hours and Wages
In accordance with the Labor Standards Act and labor-management agreements, we establish rules in our work regulations concerning appropriate working hours and break times, overtime work, late-night work, holidays, and leave. We also establish wage regulations that comply with legal requirements concerning minimum wages, statutory benefits and deductions, overtime work, and related matters, and pay wages directly to employees.
6. Maintaining Employee Safety and Health
- We give due consideration to the physical and mental health of employees, strive to ensure a safe and healthy workplace, comply with laws, regulations, and rules concerning safety and health, and maintain that environment by appropriately addressing health risks.
7. Freedom of Expression and Protection of Privacy
We also recognize freedom of expression and the protection of privacy in communications via telecommunications, the internet, and social media, and take the utmost care to ensure that these rights are not infringed.
8. Initiatives and Systems for Respecting Human Rights
We will establish an appropriate reporting channel to prevent human rights violations and create an effective framework for addressing them. If our business activities cause any adverse impact on human rights, we will respond appropriately through fair and equitable remedial measures aimed at mitigating and resolving that impact.
9. Communication
To advance our human rights initiatives, we will promote awareness of our Human Rights Policy among all employees and external stakeholders and actively pursue human rights education and awareness activities.
